The Assembly Of The Saints

April 2017 (tardy post LOL)

I couldnt've imagined that April would've been busier than March but it most certainly was!  I'm sure to forget to include all the details I had been able to recall on the prior moths entries but I'll give ya'll the highlights.

Week one was FULL of preparation for our Omaha Book Release Party and Spring Gala. The proverbial calm before the storm.

The Gala & Book Release Party was a tremendous success!  We enjoyed a time to get all spruced up and enjoy one another's company.  So from 5-7p we hung out at the Gala and I enjoyed signing books and catching up with everyone.

Then from 7:30-9:30 or so we left for the dinner portion of the night just before our 9:30-Midnight Bowling Party.  I barely hung...but I did LOL!  About 10 of us even dared to fall outta bed and cap off the weekend with an early morning breakfast buffet downtown!

I was honored to participate in a Marriage/Relationship retreat on Saturday the ?th and share excerpts from my book!  Great quaint, and engaged group!  I enjoyed...and think they did too!

Of course we enjoyed another North Omaha Book Club meeting discussing group economics and such...

We met up for our monthly fellowship brunch at the Rocket Kanteen to try the culinary delights of the notable "???I forgot her name???"

Then I was off to Chicago with a box of books to share a weekend with my extended Illinois family! 🙏🏾  All that fun just about finished wearing me out...hence the date of this monthly recap...gottr'-dun though! 💪🏽

Well...the month of May is waiting on me to pepper it up with productivity so I'll sign off and get to it!

Continued Blessings!

March 2017

The month came roaring in with many things to do!  The first week consisted of the "regular-regular's" but also visits to both the Omaha Design Center and Founders One Nine event spaces for our forthcoming April 17 Spring Gala.  There were also a couple of real-estate meetings we entertained and (now unnecessarily) worried ourselves with visiting the local public school's headquarters as they "vetted" potential Superintendent candidates...long story...smh...

At AOS we spent a few mid-weeks seeing the Bible COME ALIVE while viewing "Africa's Great Civilizations" on PBS.ORG narrated by the illustrious Henry Louis Gates Jr. himself!  I HIGHLY recommend you spending the time to do the same sometime!  Seeing the African representation of Biblical stories is critical and paramount to receiving a divine appreciation for biblical relevancy in our hearts as American Citizens who are descendants of freed african slaves!

The second week we got our first order of books placed for a couple of National and our own Local book release parties...and for online pre-order fulfillment!

We kinda had a debacle with our monthly fellowship luncheon being that the restaurant designate was having mechanical challenges so the group of us basically scattered about the city and dined in groups of a few or more.  This week finished up with the book trade show banner and "table dressings" designed and ordered as well.

The next week I enjoyed being a part of the North Omaha Book Club meeting for the month and greatly benefited from the financial literacy component shared!  Next we finalized the event center at Omaha Design for the April Gala and picked up the shipment of books.

The last week or so of the month we traveled to Detroit for our 1st Book Signing & Release Party sponsored and hosted by GLOW Ministries & MJM (Mike Johnson) followed by a Q & A session about the subject matter shared in the book.  This was so much fun and a tremendously humbling experience, being treated with such hospitality accompanied by such generosity!  We had a ball!  We were also blessed to attend the 8yr Anniversary & Mortgage Burning Ceremony for Jeffrey & Tamara Lane at the Light of Hope Ministry!

SIDEBAR:  So look who just happened to be in DTW the SAME weekend staying at the SAME hotel!!!?  Who is the SAME Sis of mine who DRUGGGG me through a couple of sacred halls of Detroit!  LOLOL...aaaaaannnnnd kept us up tooooooo late!  LOLOLOL! So much fun and such a welcome un-planned and un-expected blessing!!!

We returned home with a few days in the month to spare to kinda tweak our product/trade show display materials, get them designed and ordered as we feverishly finish the ground work for our upcoming April 9th Spring Gala and Omaha Book Release Party.

This was a very busy, yet PRODUCTIVE month and I'm looking forward to what April has in store for us!  I hope that you're making ground in regards to your personal objectives as well and want to just encourage you to make, track, and celebrate the incremental steps of accomplishment as you trek to your desired outcome(s). Write them down even so you can chart your progress and make lots of "to-do" notes for yourself so you'll find yourself constant taking the small measures necessary to accomplish your main and big goal!

That sums up March so off to work I go...April's here in the morning smh...

Continued Blessings!

February 2017 In Retrospect...

I cant believe that another month has passed already!!! 😳

Well...the first week of the month I oversaw the addition of elements and improvements to this website and our other social media "presences".  Still have a ways to go on that front though...but progress is progress! 👏🏾

Week 2 we were blessed to have our 2nd fellowship luncheon at a local soul food restaurant called "Tastes of Soul".  I also reluctantly recorded, edited, and uploaded YouTube video explanations of my 1st published book "The Wedding is Who You Want & The Marriage Is Who You Got" to the website.  Loathe seeing myself in photo's and I won't look LOL!

Week 3 we snuck Tiffany's mom (Mama Barnes) in on her and the family from Alabama so she could enjoy her "grand-twins" celebrate their birthday!  After brain racking number crunching...we presented the 2016 budget report to the organization publicly and held our annual executive board meeting just prior.  Glad that is outta the way...whew!

We participated in perhaps the most engaging and provocative North Omaha Book Club meeting yet!  I cant wait for the next one in March!

I personally had to preserve and "power" through this month as far as administrative productivity is concerned!

When you ( I ) measure your (my) productivity, it's at times disconcerting looking at how much needs to be done in a months time...knowing your energy reserve (or lack there of) is the locomotion that is going to have to motor you to completion...😅

Howeever the feeling of accomplishment is satiating and is accompanied by a type of exhausting relief...but soon followed by the challenge of knowing the next week is looming with it's own empty canvas must too be adorned with yet more accomplished tasks. 🙈

I cant wait to see how God might add His "Super" to my "natural" efforts!  This year I feel more challenged with USING time, than I can remember in my life thus far!

January 2017 in retrospect...

Wow what a month...whew!!!  I'm too tired to to submit this in the formality that I'd like to but I'm on a mission to get things done on time this year...or at lest as in this case, in time!  With an hour and 1/2 left in this first month of 2017 to be exact!
